4 months old

Olivia turned 4 months old on Saturday. Every month I say, "Where has the time gone?" and this month is no different. She is such a happy baby and we feel so blessed! So, what is Olivia up to at 4 months?
-She usually sleeps 10 hours, wakes up and eats, and then sleeps for another 2 hours. (Sometimes she needs a pacifier after about 7-8 hours, but not always).
-She sleeps on her stomach because she immediately rolls over to it when we lay her on her back.
-She loves to smile.
-She recognizes me when I pick her up from daycare, and she smiles at me when she sees me.
-She fake coughs.
-She laughs when you really talk to her and tickle her.
-After giving her lots of kisses, she opens her mouth and "kisses" your cheek.
-She can hold her own bottle for a little while.
-She is starting to like some toys.
-She cried when I took a toy away from her the other day (because it was bathtime) and then stopped crying when I gave it back to her.
-She still loves to stand in our laps.
-She can sit up with very little assistance.
-She just moved up to a size 3 diaper.

I'm not sure how much she weighs. We go back to the doctor for her 4-month shots next week, so I'll update with her stats then.

She looked so cute this weekend. It was a little cool out, so we put her hat on. She got lots of compliments! :)

OUCH!

Well......... unfortunately, Olivia had her first accident on Sunday evening, and it was my fault. I sometimes lay her on my bed while I'm doing things in the bedroom. Since she has started rolling over, I've been extremely careful in doing that. Sunday was no different. I laid her in the middle of my bed (but towards the bottom). I just left her there long enough to grab a jacket out of the closet because our building was having a picnic that was about to start. In the time it took me to get to the closet and get my jacket, I heard a 'thud' that I will never forget. I looked over and Olivia was lying face down on the hardwood floor at the end of the bed. I immediately picked her up and she was screaming. My heart just dropped. We went straight to the emergency room to have her checked out. She cried the whole way there, but she settled down once we got there and I was holding her. Immediately I was reassured by the medical staff that this probably wouldn't be our last ER trip and that it happens to almost everyone. (Needless to say, that didn't make me feel any better). After a thorough exam, the doctor reassured us that she was okay and we were released to come home. We just had to give her tylenol for 24 hours and wake her up every 2 hours throughout the night to make sure she didn't have a concussion. It was a LONG night, but she seemed fine. We went to the pediatrician Monday morning for a follow-up visit and everything looked fine. She's back to her normal, happy self, and I am EXTREMELY thankful. It probably goes without saying that she won't be left on the bed again anytime soon... or ever!

Naptime is about to get more difficult...

Why is naptime about to get more difficult for us? Not because Olivia isn't a good sleeper, but instead because she is now rolling over from her back to her stomach. Every time I lay her down on her back during the day, she rolls right over to her stomach. If she's really tired, she just rolls about halfway over and falls asleep on her side.

In other news, she can also hold her bottle now. If we hold it out in front of her, she'll reach for it and she can hold it for a little while. Jon usually has to adjust her hands so that she actually gets the milk.

It's amazing to see how quickly she's learning new things these days. She likes some of her toys now, too... although her favorite toys are still people. When we give her lots of kisses, she gets so excited and opens her mouth really wide. She then puts her mouth to my cheek. I say, "thank you for the kisses" and she just giggles! It's one of my favorite things, and we do it over and over! :)

Happy (Late) Anniversary

Jon and I celebrated 6 years of marriage on Saturday. Ann (who runs the daycare) babysat Olivia while we went out to dinner and a movie. It was a wonderful, and relaxing, night. We were talking about how it doesn't feel like it's been 6 years, but when we started thinking about all we've done, and the places we've been, we realized that we have really done a lot in our time together.

I feel so blessed to have such an amazing, caring, and hard-working husband. He is so good to me, and does more to help out around the house than any husband I know of. I am very thankful for God bringing us together, and I look forward to many more years together.

I love you Jon... forever and a day!

Just the 2 of us (and 2 dogs)

Olivia and I spent our first night alone this weekend. Jon left early Saturday morning to go to South Bend, IN for the Notre Dame football game. It started out as a rainy day, so we spent most of the day indoors. We ventured out in the afternoon to take the dogs for a walk. I was a little nervous having to do that by myself, but we managed just fine. Jon got back home this morning, so we've just been hanging out today.

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Moving out

Not us... Olivia. No, she's not really moving out... just out of our bedroom and her bassinet. She started sleeping in her crib Friday night and so far, so good!

Have a great week!

Laughing and Cheering

This week, Olivia started laughing out loud. It's the sweetest sound I think I've ever heard. She laughs when we play Pat-A-Cake and when I tickle her chin. It's so cute! I'll try to get a video of it this weekend. I was going to attempt to do that earlier, but I sound so ridiculous trying to make her laugh that I didn't want everyone to hear it! Ha!

We are so excited to have a 3 day weekend with no plans! The weather was a bit cooler today, but still perfect for a nice walk to breakfast. Afterwards, we came home to watch football. Olivia showed her spirit for both teams (Arkansas-of course, and Notre Dame- Jon's alma mater).

My 2 favorite Notre Dame fans:

Ready to call the Hogs:

My nephew (Jon's sister's little boy) turned 1 today. Happy Birthday Luke!! We wish we could have been there for his party, but we will see them again in Wisconsin for Christmas. Here's the birthday boy feeling the sand for the first time a couple of months ago. Isn't he a cutie?!?

I hope you all enjoy the long weekend!
