2 months old!

Olivia turned 2 months old on Sunday. I can't believe how fast time is flying by! She is growing like crazy! She holds her head up really well and for a long time, she now likes to look at herself in the mirror, and she smiles and "talks" more and more every day. She is such a happy (and easy) baby. She sleeps 6-8 hours at a time at night, which I am very thankful for!

I took her to the doctor today for her 2 month visit, which means shots. I was really dreading it, but she did great. She only cried for a second. The doctor said everything looks great. She said Olivia is absolutely beautiful and could be a baby model... I'm sure she tells all of the parents that! Ha!

As far as her growth, Olivia is 24 inches long, which is in the 90th percentile and she weighs 13lb 8oz, which is the 97th percentile. Needless to say, she's a big girl! Luckily, she is proportionate!!

Fun Weekend

First of all, check out this outfit... Isn't it something?!? (Yes, it's a Razorback tutu!) HA!

She has to be the cutest Hog fan ever, right?!? One of my best friends from college, Mandy, and her husband (Eric) flew in on Friday for a visit. They brought Olivia this adorable outfit. I bet she's the only little girl in Chicago with one of these! I know she doesn't look too happy in the picture, but I think it's just because football season hasn't started yet!!

We had a pretty busy weekend. This was Mandy's first trip to Chicago, so we spent a lot of time downtown sightseeing. Olivia had her first trip to a Chicago pizzeria, Navy Pier, the Bean, Michigan Ave, and Millenium Park. We even saw some filming of the Transformers movie. She slept through the majority of it, though, so I guess we'll have to go back when she gets a little older! :)

It was so great to see Mandy. She's one of those friends who you can not talk to for months, but you still pick up right where you left off. And, Olivia really warmed up to her, cooing and smiling every time Mandy talked to her. I only wish we lived closer. Here are a couple of pictures from yesterday.

This and That

What have we been up to since I last posted?

Last Friday, we had to be out of our building all day because they were painting. Olivia and I spent the day visiting and running errands. It's a lot of work to stay gone from 9am until 6pm with a baby! We spent a few hours at the daycare where Olivia will be staying when I return to work. The daycare is run out of a home in our neighborhood. The two ladies (Ann and Amy) have just started it and they will have a total of 6 babies.. and a couple of other people who will work there part time. They both have 4 year old boys and are looking to give parents a better option than what was available to them when their boys were babies. Of the 6 babies who will be going there, Olivia is the only girl. I think she will either end up a tomboy or spoiled rotten! :)

Friday night, Jon's dad came into town to stay with us. He drove Jon's sister down so that she could visit some old friends. He didn't get to town until about 9pm, so we just visited a little and then went to bed. On Saturday, we had a light breakfast of coffee and apple fritters from Dunkin Donuts (Dennis' favorite :)) and then walked to a mexican restaurant in the neighborhood for lunch. Later that afternoon, Jenny and Luke showed up. After visiting with them for a little while, the Gilge clan was on their way back to Wisconsin. I'm so glad we got to see Jenny and Luke again before they left. (They go back to California tomorrow). And, Olivia was glad to get to spend a little more time with her Grandpa!

Today we are headed back to the daycare. They want to see Olivia again and I'm going to leave her for an hour or two and run some errands.

Weekend Recap

This past weekend, we took another roadtrip. On Friday afternoon, Olivia and I picked Jon up from work and the three of us made our way north to Wisconsin. We stopped for a brief visit in Madison. Max (the best man in our wedding) and his wife Emily had a baby boy about 2 weeks ago and this was the perfect chance for us to meet Henry. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera, so I don't have any pictures of Olivia and Henry, but he is a cutie. Congrats to Max and Emily!

From there, we continued north to Wausua, where Jon's parents live. We got there kinda late, but everyone was waiting up for us. Well, everyone except Luke (our nephew who was born last September). It was so nice to see Jenny (Jon's sister) and her husband Jeff. They live in Napa, CA and we don't get to see them very often. We had a short visit before turning in for the night. Luckily, right before we got in bed, Luke decided to wake up and say hi. (Well, lucky for us... maybe not for his parents!) He is such a big boy and as cute and sweet as can be!

Saturday morning, we got up and had breakfast and then hit the road even farther north to Phillips, WI. This is where Jon's dad is from and we had a family reunion up there. It was great to see Jon's aunts, uncles, and cousins. I always have the best time up there. Everyone is so friendly, and I feel like I'm with my own family. Olivia charmed everyone by sleeping pretty much the entire day. :) And, Luke was such a trooper. He was so exhausted by the end of the day, but he never stopped smiling and having a great time.

Back to Wausau late that night, we went straight to bed. After breakfast on Sunday morning, we stayed around to watch the World Cup final and then drove back to Chicago. It was a great weekend, albeit short and busy. Below are some pictures from the trip.

Quick Update

We have just been enjoying the nice weather the last couple of days with daily walks to the park. Other than that, Olivia has been her usual sweet self. :) I hope I don't jinx us by saying this, but she has slept for a 6 hour stretch each of the past 3 nights. She usually goes to sleep around 10:00pm, wakes up around 4:00am, eats and goes right back to sleep until 6:30 or 7:00. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but it is GREAT! I wake up feeling so refreshed. In fact, the first night that it happened, I woke Jon up at 4:00am and asked if he was ready to get up because I felt so rested. Needless to say, he wanted to sleep a little longer. Ha!

My mom and brother both had birthdays yesterday, so Happy Birthday Mom and Glen!! I hope you both enjoyed your days!

She held up a sign for mom and Glen, but her smile in this one was too good not to share. It's the best picture I've gotten of her smiling.

Happy 4th of July!

We don't have any plans for this weekend, but it's nice that Jon has an extra day off of work to spend with us. This morning, he took the dogs to the dog beach, as they have been a bit neglected lately. When he got home, we watched the World Cup games and then took advantage of the beautiful weather. We walked down to the park and had a wonderful picnic. It's the first time Olivia has spent any time outside, besides being in the stroller for a walk. It was a perfect afternoon!!
