It's all in the name

I haven't posted in a while, so I wanted to let you all know that things are still going along smoothly. I had another doctor's appointment last week and everything looks good. Now, instead of going every 4 weeks, I go back in 3. The time is quickly approaching... only about 9 1/2 weeks to go!

I don't think I've mentioned on here, but we have decided on a name. Her name is Olivia Rose. Olivia literally means "olive tree", which in the Bible is a symbol of fruitfulness, beauty, and dignity. Extending an olive branch signifies an offer of peace. And, Rose... well, I don't think any explanation is needed there! :)

As for other things going on, my mom was just up here for a visit last weekend. We went shopping and bought lots of little girl outfits. It was a lot of fun. Glen and Abby are on their way here now to spend a few days of her Spring Break. Jon's parents are coming Easter weekend, so we will have lots of company over the next couple of weeks.

Jon put up some shelves and rods in the closet for Olivia last night. I can't believe how many clothes the girl already has. My mom has sent some things, Jon's sister sent a box of outfits and shoes, and Jon's mom has sent multiple boxes of clothes. I think it's fair to say that she is going to be spoiled! We are thankful for all of it and feel blessed to have so many people who already love her so much!

Nursery

Here is the crib I ordered last week from Babies R Us. It came in today, so we get to pick it up this weekend! Here's the dresser/ changer that we bought off of Craigslist. It is the same brand as the crib and is in perfect condition. And, this is the bedding that we ordered tonight.
What do you think?!?

Movement and Furniture

I just wanted to post a quick update. I have started feeling our little girl move around a little the past few days. Jon had to go out of town for work for a few days. The morning before he left is when she decided to let us know she existed. Jon was able to feel her kick just before leaving... I think she was telling him not to go! :)

On another note, I ordered the crib this past weekend. We bought a really nice dresser/changing combo off of craigslist.com last week and I ended up getting the crib that matches it. I'll post a picture of the furniture once I figure out how!

I hope everyone is having a great week!

Mary Beth

It's a...

HEALTHY BABY!! After all, that is what is most important, right?!? I wasn't scheduled for my 20 week ultrasound until January 7, but since Jon and I are both off work this week, we decided to try to get in a little earlier. We went Tuesday (Dec 29). We got lots of pictures of our little one and were told that everything looks great! What a huge blessing! I haven't felt any kicks, had any sickness, etc, so it was very nice to see our little one moving around and the heart beating as it should (151 bpm). Following the advice of my sister-in-law, I had a cup of coffee before I went. (Fyi... I have had very little caffeine since I found out I was pregnant). The coffee definitely got the baby moving... which was the plan. Both the u/s tech and doctor commented on how active she was. Yes, I said SHE. We are having a GIRL and we couldn't be more excited!!! Now the fun of shopping begins! :)

I haven't updated as often as I planned, and I will try to do better. It was so nice spending time in WI for Thanksgiving and in AR for Christmas. It was wonderful to spend time with all of you that we were able to see, and we hope to see more of you this upcoming year.

Happy New Year!

Mary Beth

12 weeks

I am 12 weeks along today. I had another doctor's appointment today and everything looks good. I heard the heartbeat (which was fast-- in a good way). After the appointment, I made a few phone calls and then gave my mom the go-ahead to start telling everyone the news. I'm sure the entire city of West Memphis knew by lunch! :) Now that we've started telling people, it's starting to feel more real.

So far, things have been pretty uneventful. I haven't been sick... just tired, but that seems to be getting better.

I'll try to start updating more, both in baby-related news and not.

Mary Beth

8 weeks

As of yesterday (Friday), I am 8 weeks along. Our baby is growing up a storm and is about a half an inch in length this week. He or she (or "emby" as we refer to him or her) is looking less like a reptile and more like a human. My next doctor's appointment is November 6, and "Emby" is due to join us, under a revised and more appropriate name of course, on May 21.

Mary Beth
